Douglas J. Magrath Sr, 74, of Key West, FL, loving husband of Linda (Turek) Magrath, peacefully passed away at New Britain General Hospital after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born in Hartford, CT, son of the late Dr. George and Miriam (Phipps) Magrath, and spent most of his life in Meriden, CT. He was a 1966 graduate from Frances T. Maloney High School. He married the love of his life, Linda, in 1974 and they just celebrated 48 years together. Doug served the City of Meriden as a firefighter for 25 years. Douglas loved his wife and family more than anything and would tell everyone about his children and grandchildren. He had a love for adventure, traveling, cars and antiques. Doug was an avid skier and member of the Meriden Ski Club, and a lifetime member of the Meriden Elks Lodge #35, the Moose Lodge and the Meriden PBA. He will be missed by the many friends he has made over the years, and his family. In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his daughter Amanda (Michael) Burris of Holmes, NY; son Douglas (Josephine) Magrath Jr. of Key West, FL, five cherished grandchildren Matthew, Nathan and Ryan Burris, Isabelle and Whitney Magrath, and his brother Richard (Willene) Magrath of Epworth, GA. He was predeceased by his brother George (Brud) Magrath, Jr. He leaves many nieces and nephews.
